Hello! I was curious what my EE is mixed with... She is obviously an Ameraucana X, but the question is who her other parent was? I have a friend asking, because they would like one with her gorgeous colors!!! Normally I would be able to figure this out, but she has me stumped...she is from a feed store, and lays blue eggs and blue eggs with turquoise speckles sometimes.. here she is!

Sorry, I'll get some better pictures... These are just the ones on my tablet... I also have pictures of her as a chick! Her name is Nutmeg!

Most 'store bought' EE are the result of EE X EE matings with the many resultant color patterns that they throw. EE X brown egg layer or Ameuaucana X brown egg layer would most likely produce olive eggers. Here's a project for you - raise some chicks from her eggs and then breed one of her sons back to her. You can start your own pretty line.

:goodpost: This. :)

Hatchery EEs aren't Ameraucana crosses.....though many sources probably claim so because of the common traits, such as beard/muffs, pea combs, colored eggs, ect.. Rather, the Ameraucana breed was derived from EEs. :D
