I think bandit is a hatchery red roo
Specks is a silver laced wyandotte roo
Onyx is an Aussie hen
Skid is a Welsummer hen
Pepper is an Aussie roo.

These are far from certain, except that Skid is female 100% They're still pretty young, and I'd love to see pics in another month or so to see how they look then. I'd love to be proven wrong!

The reasons I'm calling roo....
Bandit--the color is getting patchy already, the thick legs, the slow feathering, little bit of comb
Specks--color pattern looks male, although I've seen blotchy chicks be hens. Thick legs and slow feathering, red face.
Pepper--thick legs and slow feathering.

Specks looks like a silver laced wyandottee and is a cockerel
Skid is either a brown leghorn or welsummer and is a pullet
Bandit has some awful thick legs, but I am not going to throw out a guess yet for bandit or the others

is it my eyes or does specks have a straight comb? If so, wrong comb for a wyandotte.

It may be a straight comb, but those do crop up in Wyandottes now and again. Its a dq from a show standpoint, but lots of backyard flocks have a straight combed Wyandotte.

Nooooo!! You're totally breaking my heart over here..Lol!! I thought it sounded odd that the lady they were bought from 'guaranteed no roo's whatsoever!'. lol..I think I was duped!
I was curious as to why some seem so slow to feather out, -Bandit and Pepper especially.
It really does stink though, since I'm kind of a attached to Specks and Bandit, and my last experience with a roo was no fun ( he kept going after my two year old son) :(
Well, it would be awesome if you were wrong.. but I won't be holding my breath, :/
I will definitely post more pics. Thanks :)

It may have a strait come, althought these chicks are young they dont look like they came from a breeder. Hatchery birds have all different kinds of faults, hatcheries do not breed to thee SOP

you have to know a little about slw to be able to tell. It is based off his coloring. And you should not go off tails when it comes to gender and they are still young, assome hens will get arch in their tail,

Hmmm well I have a juvenile with curled feathers and a decent sized comb coming in. I have always suspected Roo. Do you mind if I send you an invite when I post recent pics in a few days so you can see?

i dont mind at all! when u say some hens get curved tail i domt mean like a full grown roosters tail. I have had a lot of easter eggers with arched tails that were hens

Well he/she looks like a Roo but doesn't act like one-at least not anymore. Now my other one is acting like a Roo but I didn't think it was one! It acts more like my confirmed Roo than the others.

ok.. so I know it's only been a week.. but I got some pretty good close ups of my chicks...
