My local feed store said they'll be getting "most major breeds" of chicks in tomorrow. What do you think I can expect to see. It's in Sonoma, Ca if that helps.

Probably your more popular brown layers like Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, Australorps, Black or Red Sex Links and maybe a white egg layer like a Leghorn.
That's just a guess, but pretty standard for feed stores.

The standard, common brown layers - Production Reds, Buff Orpingtons, Sex Links, Barred Rocks, Black Australorps. There are also the occasional lots of Leghorns and Easter Eggers, falsely advertised as Ameraucanas.

We have a store called Plant World that get's Barred Rock, Road Island Reds, Buff Orpingtons & Ameraucanas..

TSC had Red Sex Links, Barred Rocks, Road Island Reds, Cornish X, some bantams that I didn't know what kind and 2 different breed of ducks!!

Hope this gives you an idea!!

Saw some New Hampshire Reds at one of our local feed stores the other day and was surprised. I'm waiting for the Golden Comets to come around...... They get a couple breeds per week. Don't need a full "case" of 25 chicks this year, so I'm not special ordering online.

We found Brown Leghorns and Silver Laced Wyandottes at our local feed store (not a chain). We bought 2 of the Leghorns and 6 of the Wyandottes. They order from Privett's in New Mexico. I thought that was a cool find!

you could ask them what hatchery they buy from, around here they usualy get the most popular at the hatchery, RIR,barred rocks, silver laced wyandots(sp) buff orpingtons, americana(easter eggers, not "true" americaunas, and a leg horn type for the white eggs are what we got , i think one place here got in delawares, astralorps, red and black sex-links as well.

I just got 6 in the East Bay and checked out 3 stores (ended up at Concord Feed). Ended up with 2 Rhode Island Red, 2 Buff Orpington and 2 Silver Laced Wyandott. Good luck!!

Plant World on Greenwell Springs road?

I bought 200 straight run chicks from them back in 1983 for $25. It was the end of the season, they were about two weeks old, I guess they were scared they were going to get stuck with'em. I went in the store asked them about chicks, they said they had those left and I could have them all for $25.

My local feed store has barred rocks, rhode islands, production reds, black sexlinks, buff orpingtons plus ducks, geese, guineas and pea fowl.

I am in Galvez, just south of B.R.
