What Breeds Go Broody

Can’t remember if I’ve already asked this before (and if I did, I didn’t get a straight answer) but quick question...which breeds of duck will positively go broody if I want to naturally hatch Ducks? I’m hatching a big variety of ducks in an incubator this spring and then keeping and raising them. So which breeds go broody? I want at least one broody hen duck.

Muscovies seem to be popular. I had a black swedish that did the whole disappear and reappear with babies, and a blue swedish (her birth mother) that would always go broody and hatched a nest or two

Oh nice. I’m not necessarily free ranging mine so disappearing shouldn’t be a problem. Do Mallards, white Crested Pekins, Campbell’s, or Cayugas go broody?

I have no idea. Pekins I think are too heavy

Yeah I know they tend to have health issues because of that factor. That’s why I’m only getting one, and it’s gonna be a White Crested. I’ve hatched ducks several times before and I can’t wait to do it again

I’ve heard mallards go broody. My pekin never has been broody.

I wasn’t planning on Getting one but I might get just 2 or 3 of those fertile eggs just for broody ducks. 2 or 3 eggs bc Ik some could be infertile or be quitters

I'll think about it.... not making any hasty decisions.... do the Orp'ers dislike Silkies?
