I am a new chicken owner and we have 8 week old almost 9 week old rhode island reds, barred rocks, and red-stars.....and one barred rock rooster.....they have been so much fun for us and the kids so far
Well lets see...... I live on a 1/4 of a 1/4 of an acre and I have a dozen hens (5) Red Stars and (7) Buff Orpington's and they are all of bunch of big pets especially the Red Stars ...I've had them the longest
I have:
9 Shetland hens and 1 cockeral
1 Light Sussex hen
3 Exchequor leghorn hens
Scots Dumpy hen
dutch bantam hen
japanese bantam hen
1 Appenzeller hen
1 pekin hen
2 barbu d'uccle hens and 2 cocks (1 cockeral going spare)
2 maran hens
2 welsummer hens
3 khaki campbell/ kc cross ducks and 2 drakes (1 other duck is missing - hubby is hoping she is sitting somewhere)
I have 7 hens: 3 RIR's and 4 Ameraucanas. Not ready to hatch chickies yet since I'm still learning, but maybe for next year. I really love Speckled Sussex.
I have: Silver Laced Wyandotte roo, Black Star hen, and 2 mixed hens. The one mixed hen lays green/blue eggs. I have 25 chicks coming 3/26-all hens: 5 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 5 Rhode Island Reds, 5 White Leghorns, 5 Balck Stars, 5 Ameracaunas. I just love chickens!
What a list, right now I have 9 Rhode Island Reds, 9 Leg horns, 4 Plymouth Rock, 26 Barred Rocks, 26 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Aracuana's, and two ducks. Of course the br's, BO, ARA's are just a week old now.
I added two Black Astrolops and two Easter ducks to my collection.
