What are you favorite breed of chicken? I have a flock of 7, which includes one of each: ISA Brown (my oldest girl!), Buff Orpington, Lavender Orpington, Dark Brahma, Blue Laced Golden Wyandotte, Olive Egger, and an Easter Egger (no roosters). Can you think of any other breeds that would fit into this flock nicely? Good egg layers is great, but I really want docile and friendly hens that I can bond with. Maybe having a little bantam would be fun....

Any bantams would fit but I'd get about 4-5 of them. Reason being they could get shunned by the larger birds and thrive better in a small group of their own. Silkies would be great, but of course I'm partial to those. :)

Speckled Sussex

For us , we found the more docile breeds are Speckled Sussex, as mentioned earlier, EE, Copper Moran, and Saphire Gem.
These are the friendliest , in my experience, and good egg producers. If you are looking for those that can be handled reasonably well.
We have a rather large flock that includes leghorns, cinnamon queens, Brahma lite, Spanish Whites, Cemani and a lot of mix breeds.

We have a Barred Rock, who is completely bananacrackers, a Buff Orpington (total sweetie) and Easter Egger (also sweet, but fiercely independent), and have added a Speckled Sussex and another Easter Egger, both of whom are too young to know their personalities yet.

I love them all, but I might pause at getting another BR, even though this one defies all of her breed descriptions.
