Hi all!!
Well, as a few of you may know, my hen Agnes passed due to a predator attack on the 11th of this month :( Despite me being very sad, I've decided that it is time for new chickens

Well, next year. I have room for at least 5 new chickens but 6 could definitely fit! So, when you vote, choose 5 breeds that you think I should get (all the breeds listed are ones that are available at my local hatchery.)

Thanks so so much for your input!

I like pretty chickens as well as pretty eggs, so if it were me, I would have
1. Black Copper Marans
2. Orpington
3. Easter Egger or Ameraucana
4. Olive Egger
5. Black Australorp (I know you don’t have this up there, but they are very friendly and great layers)

I have had all of these breeds and they have done well in my cold winters and hot summers and they give me a nicely colored egg basket.

Salmon Faverolles are supposed to be a good breed. They are supposed to lay all summer and winter. I hope to one day get the bantam version.

Silkies do great in freezing temps. Don’t lay well but are wonderful mothers.

I would recommend any breed of bantam or mixed. Mine all lay better than my standard chickens. OEGBs are the best for free rangeing if you want to free range. With bantam you can add more and they eat less. Their eggs have more yolk than white compared to standard chicken.

So what I choose:
1: Blue and Red Laced Wyandotte.
Personally I think that laced and barred chickens look the best.
2: English Orpington.
I honestly can say that any Orpington is a good attitude chicken.
The other suggestions you put in your voting thinga mauwhatsit. (don’t know what to call it)
I didn’t vote for because I don’t have any experience with any of the other chickens you have put down.
So here are some I would recommend:
3: Jersey Giant for big eggs.
4: Dominique for ruggedness and preserving our country’s first chicken breed.
And that is pretty much it.
I own Jerseys and Doms so that is why I recommend them.
Doms are very rugged when it comes to weather and also are one of the best forgers.
Jerseys are also very winter hardy and lay big eggs.
But do as you wish.
This is just what I am saying.
😊

Thanks for the suggestions! I already have a black australorp and she is just great, but I would like to get different breeds and not duplicates lol....Sorry I'm really weird 😅 I've always wanted an olive egger hen but the 2 times that we've tried to get one, it has been a roo every single time:hit
