I have a surprising amount of suckup chickens that either run over to the side of the run when they hear me coming, or if they are free ranging at the first sight of me that come running over and jump and walk all over my shoes begging for treats and even let me hold them without me having to chase them or corner them to pick them up!

Right now the suck ups are:
Two Barred Rock pullets
Two Buff Orpington Pullets
One Delaware Pullet
One White Crested Black Polish (st run, thinking pullet though)

All my other breeds RARELY let me pick them up without any trouble and only come over when they see from a distance that I do actually have something in my hand...

So people...what breeds have you noticed to be huge suck ups or just plain friendly!!!???

My biggest suckups are my barred rock girls as well, then comes my polish. They ALL come running however, when my youngest boy walks out the door - it's his job to take the kitchen scraps out to the little bottomless pits!

My biggest suck up is a Red Cochin and a Splash Cochin and then there is my silver laced wyandotte but she is just weird not necessarily a suck up. She believes she is supposed to ride in the van with me, she is supposed to come in and watch TV and she is supposed to do whatever she pleases and be with me constantly.

All 30 of the come running when they see me wanting food of course. LOL

My little suckups are my Frizzles and Bar Rock. My frizzle roo Jeremy, my frizzle hen Mrs. Frizzby, and my Bar Rock hen Barbara. They free range in my front yard along with three Americauna hens (Merriadock, Peragrin, Merisial) and a silver laced Wyandotte hen (Wynona). I bought them all at the same time back in March as chicks . They let me handle them without issue but the Frizzles are definitely my little sweetie pies. They run across the yard to greet me any time I come out of the house. Jeremy like to sit on my shoes when I'm sitting on our garden bench. He knows his name and comes when I call him. Barbara likes to be held and after a few minutes in my lap settles down and naps. Mrs Frizzby comes and sits next to me on the bench every afternoon and likes to share my lunch though I'm not always in the mood to share.

Believe it or not, my Blue Andalusians are the biggest suck-ups that we have. From what I read before I got them, I certainly didn't expect that. But from Day 1 in the brooder, they were so bold and curious, they ran right up to my hand. Over a year later, it's dangerous to bend over. You will be wearing a line of Andalusians on your back...

We are lucky to have a whole passel of super-friendly chickens, but the Blue Andalusians are really something else!

I have month olds, buff orpingtons, black australorps, and silver and gold laced wyandottes.

The black australorps are by far the most friendly. I cannot sit down near the brooder without having first one, then the other BA flap over to land on me. The wyandottes will also hop over for attention, but the buff orps don't want to be touched or handled at all.

These black australorps are almost aggressively friendly, I can't get them to leave me alone. (Not that I mind.) The climb all over, get up in my face, leap up into the air for treats, and are far more interested in sitting on me than being in the brooder. I can only imagine how pushy they are going to be once they're big girls!
