What can I do for Chloey? Eye bleeding..pic UPDATED POST SURGERY PICS

Hi. Thats good news to hear. I cannot advise about antibiotics as I'm in the UK. If available I would use antibiotic eye drops combined with a Steroid to reduce inflammation and swelling. Very pleased about your success. Pete

I have been following this and so happy to hear she is doing so good, and thanks for sharing the experience. You can get Terrimycin in an eye salve which would probably be good to put into her eye. The swelling could be just from whats been done and not from infection. again great news!!

Sorry I haven't posted the pic yet....here it is now....she seems to be doing very well. I have not given antibiotics yet because I am not sure she needs them. I will keep an eye on her and use them if necessary so it's good to know the Duramycin will be ok...Thanks to everyone who has been watching the thread...we used a sauter (sp?) gun and burned it off....it was awful. I had to take a break while doing it because I thought I was gonna puke....just the idea of what we were doing to her made me queasy! But...

Here's Chloey today

If you look close you can see the darker grey spot where we had to burn her

I HATED doing it!! But I knew it had to be done...and she can still see out of her eye!

I had cleaned it with alcohol near her eye...we burned it several times to get the "sty" ...then we put neosporin on it...sterile cotton and wrapped it in vetrap.I left it for 2 days and when I took it off it looked great.

So have you found out anymore about keeping your birds?

Not really. No one can give a "yes or no" answer. I emailed the Dept of Ag and Michigan State, and they can't give a definitive answer. In Michigan, its all just a question of interpretation of the law. So at this point, I'm just going to be like Scarlet O'Hara and worry about that tomorrow, if and when it happens.

Good....I'd do the same. If there is no complaints...don't worry
