What can I do to keep sandflies/gnats away from my quail

What can I do to keep sandflies/gnats away from my quail? They are in a hutch outside and I keep the grass cut, but it has been raining like crazy then getting warm out. So the sandflies are nuts. They are constantly buzzing around my quail and I think they are driving my poor birds nuts. Also chewing me alive when I go out to water and feed them. Can I use Off bug spray on the hutch, if I make sure they don't get sprayed?

A few suggestions.

Cover your hutch openings with window screen, this will help limit access to the birds.

Permethrin spray can be used around the perimeter.

A fan can help stir the air.

A bug zapper may also help.

If there's a lot of the flies, they can overwhelm the birds in time, so hopefully you can find a solution.

I've had good luck with fans. Sandflies and gnats are generally too small to fight the constant air movement.
