What can I do to make them LOVE me?

There was an ad of kijiji for a few jumbo coturnix hens at $2/bird. They are 7 weeks old...so DH and I drove and got 6.

They are in a temporary rabbit cage right now until I pick up their permanent structure from my FIL tomorrow.

They are very, very friendly...walk up to me and eat crumbles out of my hands. They let me pet them and don't flinch when I pick them up. I can't get over how gentle they are!

Anyway, they are already very friendly, but is there anything else I can do to help them love me? I'm assuming it's food, right?

Sounds like you are doing a great job already!

I have 2 little quail and they are so flighty....lol. Everytime I open the lid, they fly up in try to escape.

i have a few that like to be handled, I say clip their wings and just handle them a lot, and yes treats, meal worms go over well and scrambled eggs.

I Actually Pinion All My Quail--- Helps To Stop Stock Loss Primarily, But It Also Works Wonders On Attitude Adjusting, Tho It Seems Your Are Quite Tame Already It Will At Least Stop Them From Flying Off If They Get Out Of Their Pen...

Most jumbos are just naturally loveable. Mine don't like being picked up too well, but anything else is a-okay with them!

At 7 weeks, are they too old to pinnion?

No They Can Be Pinioned At Any Age, Preferably After 3-4 Wks Of Age, But It Can Be Done At Anytime. It Gets A Little More "ugly" The Older They Get--- Bones Get Thicker And Stronger--- Etc...

It Doesnt Sound As If Yours Need The Attitude Adjustment Of Pinioning, But I See The 3 Gupies Part Of Your Signature--- Its Only A Matter Of Time Before 1 Of These Birds Gets Away From 1 Of Those Guppies..... At Least Pinioning Will Help Keep Them Nearby And Easy To Retrieve When The Inevitable Happens. That And A Decent Dip Net For Fishing Helps Too--- Dont Laugh They Can Be Quite Quick On Their Feet When They Are Scared Or Dead Set On Not Getting Caught!
