What can I write on my eggs with?

What is safe and non-toxic that I can write on my eggs with? Crayon? Crayola marker?

I'm like a mathematician, I use a pencil.

Some use sharpies.

I imagine crayons would work.

I only use pencils because they aren't lead anymore, so they don't harm the chicks inside.

I use pencil. I would hate to be a chickie that had to smell Sharpie for 21 days! Crayon wax would stop up the pores on the surface...so...I chose pencil.

I heard that Sharpie can kill the chicks so I just use a mechanical pencil...

Hi! That question gets asked a lot.
I use Sharpie Permanent Markers to mark eggs for hatching.
