Was wondering if their are any shrubs I could plant in my run that the chickens aren't going to eat to death? Was just think if their was any it would make some natural shade.

i think it really depends on the size of run/# of birds.

we have agapanthus and artichokes in a run, and they seem to be doing OK.

after planting, it might be a good idea to protect with some chicken wire.

My girls like our screen of arborvitae, and they haven't destroyed it. Granted, it was well-established before we moved in, but they really like dust bathing and lounging under them on warm afternoons. The tough part could be getting the plants established. I recommend chicken wire cages for new plants, too, and I also put rocks around the base of new plants so the girls don't dig up the new fragile roots.

Another option is to plant some shrubs just outside the run to provide shade.
