You cross a Golden Laced Wyndotte Rooster with a Black Australorp Hen? Are any of them sex-linked? Will they make good layers as a cross? And will they have color or will the Black from the BA come through solid?

They won't be sex linked at all.

They'll probably be good layers or meat birds if you're so inclined to eat the excess cockerels. If you're hatching birds, you DO have a plan for those boys, right?

I think they'll be mostly black with some leakage, but you can do a search for the chicken calculator and play with that to see what it says. It's a great chance to brush up on your Dutch lol.

We are planning on having meat birds next year and I wanted to try hatching a set of good layers. I wasnt sure if they would be sex linked and I really wasnt worried about it lol. I was mostly wondering what the color would be since I cant find any pictures. Thanks for the replies though. I inherited a GLW roo and I was planning on breeding him with my one australorp hen. I know both breeds do well in laying, and that they are both dual purpose birds so I figured a cross between them would be good in that sense.
