What can you tell me about French 'Rousse' Chickens?

We live in France (having moved from America) and unless we want to drive for hours we have to buy local farm stock: French 'rousses'. Does anyone know anything about these chickens? We know they're layers and basic info like that but some more would be appreciated

"Rousse" is the French word for "red," so they are reddish feathered chickens; most likely Rhode Island Reds or Production Reds. If that's the case, they will definitely be cold hardy and good layers.
