What carries off chickens, one at a time, and leaves no evidence?

Yes we have an actual coop that took my husband a year to complete. Their pen is attached to the coop and it is covered with wire on top also. we only had one outside wall that did not have the wire around the bottom and that was where it got in. The opening was only about 3 inches off the ground. I guess that was enough. We have the wire about 2 feet out along the ground and then up the side of the pen and coop for about six inches. But hopefully we took care of that problem last night. Any suggestions on how to trap the animal?

You could even try buying one of those game cameras, thats what I plan to buy... I know that i will get a lot of pictures of chickens but thats ok....

x2 I lost three in one hour to a fox (brough DD to grandmas). And I am SURE it was a fox because I saw them, two of them together on my property! I figured it was a mother and her grown kit.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Can also be father with kit(s). Foxes exhibit bi-parental care of offspring.
