My little bantam has back toes as log a the middle toe. It looks like it was going to get a 5 toe but it didn't grow in. What cause this? This is my second one like this. But the first one sadly past. Silkie is in the gene pool is any one need that info. I can try to give you more if you need more.

That is indeed a very long toe:eek:
It could be caused by the silkie gene, since they usually have a long toe and a short toe in the back, maybe she just got the long one
It shouldn't cause any trouble for her :thumbsup

Thank you @MadamPoofyBrow . Could it be because most of my mix breed are related? Should I keep her or sale her?

Doesn't look anything Silkie related to me... they usually throw much more genetic material into what I'm seeing to even think that's a Silkie mix.

Quality back Silkie toes are one of the more challenging things to breed for.

I think it might just be an anomaly. And not what I would call cause for alarm about inbreeding. My friend got a pair of Lav Silkies from hatchery.. No one in their right mind would have allowed them to mate with their "quirks" (essentially retardation). My friend who says they aren't worried about showing or perfection has a line of Silkies now.. all sporting 6 toes on each foot. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't just about preference but they may multiplying genetic weakness that effects immunity and hardiness. So she added a nice quality black Silkie in with that group. Better than nothing I suppose.. It took almost 2 years to convince her husband to let the original rooster go.. name was Little Dick because he attacked humans every time he got the chance.

Keep or sell.. whatever makes sense to you! What makes you think the chick is "her"? :pop

Best wishes and happy hatching! :fl
