I got my first fart egg or really tiny egg maybe 1/4 the size of a regular egg! It's so cute and I haven't found the reason for it being laid. It was either my 6 year old hen Nellie or my three 4 year old hens. All the threads I read said it's usually from a newly laying chicken but it wasn't blue so it wasn't my 1 year old hens! Let me know what yall think.

I think it's your 6-year-old hen. A chicken's lifespan is 7-8 years, so your hen may be laying smaller eggs, which shows that she's beginning to stop laying eggs. You know what that means... DINNER! Or if you love your hens and/or raise them as pets (like me) no dinner... But who knows? It might actually turn out to be your 4-year-olds. If you need me, just give a cluck! I usually answer in a few hours.

Well, my seven year old hen laid a fart egg with a cute little curly cue on the end. Kinda looked like soft serve ice cream. So, I guess when the 'egg maker' gets old things just don't work like they should.

No dinner! Her sister died a year ago but she's still going really strong she looks like a young hen, but I think her reproductive system may be poopin out haha.

Was there a yolk inside?
Fart egg are usually caused by a piece of tissue breaking off the reproductive tract,
or an immature ova being released, body treats it as a normal yolk and forms the rest of the egg around it.
