What causes a hen to lay a squishy/jelly egg?

Yes many factors can cause soft eggs here are some.it can be calcium lacking vitamin D3 defiency stress and excessive sun light also illness and genetics. hope this helps

Just this past week we have found two shell-less eggs in the nest box. Never happened before. All 6 of my hens have the same diet, same pen. Will adding oyster shells solve the problem?
 
It may not solve it completely but it does help. There are several factors that can cause it. Laying hens should have access to calcium - I keep some in a dish in the run & they eat it as needed.
