What causes diarrhea?

I have a hen older than 18 months, she recently just started sleeping all the time and just moping around.. today she didnt do a thing so i brought her in for isolation.. i gave her electrolyes in her water and Organic feed. It appears she has tje diarrhea.. is this why shes been acting like this? What to do?
