What causes this type of feather loss?

I was wondering what causes this type of feather loss! They don't have mites and not all of them are like this! I am thinking that it is the rooster doing it, but I want to make sure.






As you can see not all of them are losing their feathers like a few of them are!
 
Yup, if there are no mites then that looks like the roosters doing! Those are just his favorite hen's.

Not always..my hens do the same thing..bout 1/2 of my hens every winter..i only have yr old hens, as i sell the olders..i have no rooster, nor do i keep any bullies..no parasites either..only loses the fluffy feathers at the base of the tail..
 
Most likely, it's the rooster's doing - girls may need a saddle, rooster may need his spurs trimmed.
