coons are tough period. Personally, I'd eliminate the coon population before I got any breed of chicken. Then, I'd get Games. In your neck of the woods regular bankiva Games would probably work best, but I'd try some Orientals too.

I need to mow like bad!

Old classifications.

Yes, you can pen the games: the bigger the pen the better.
I'd let them out during the day and just lock them up at night.

All chickens are either bankiva or malayoid.

Orientals are generally malayoid.
All western breeds are bankiva in origin.

Thru the years the two have been crossed. Many dual purpose types carry the blood of both.
