I have a barred rock and buff Orpington who may have laid this egg. Any egg experts who can tell me which one it was? It’s our first egg. Wasn’t home when it happened.

I would guess Buff Orpington because mine lays very similar eggs.
We have a similar dilemma! A BO and BR, both almost 22 weeks, 4 eggs so far.

2 are a warm golden-tan, one is a pinkish tan, and the fourth in between. Pretty much the same shape. But I don’t put a ton of faith in color and shape (and size) of eggs in the first few weeks.

I am now stalking the coop to see who goes in when, and then checking the nest box. I feel like a complete perv.

We just had our weekly frittata to clear out the eggs, but here’s a pic from 3 days ago. (The Easter Egger started two weeks ago and is laying daily. 😲)

Beautiful eggs!! Ours wound up being from our Buff Orpington. The very next day I saw her hop right into the box and sure enough laid a twin egg. Good luck finding your chicken!!

Isn’t it fun, solving these little mysteries??

We got our answer today! A trifecta - three pullets, three hens:

Easter Egger (obv) top left, Buff Orpington center right, and Barred Rock at the bottom. I grabbed the egg as soon as each hopped down from the coop, so I’m certain.

The perspective is a bit skewed. In order, largest to smallest: EE, BO, BR. Maaaaybe the BO is a bit pointier than the BR, but it’s early days yet.
