I was told the parents of these keets could be any of the following... Buff, Pied, Pearl, Chocolate, porcelain, and sky blue.

What color would you say these keets are???

These are my best guesses

1. lavender
2. buff
3. I think those are chocolate--on second look, I think these are pied chocolates
4. pearl
5. chocolate

I was pretty sure on the lav, and the pearls...was very confused by the buff and choc's I tried using the color chart before posting, but was having trouble telling

I am new to guinea keet color... THANK YOU!!

eta: Why are some of the choc ones darker than the others??? Does this make a difference on sex? I read somewhere that with buff's one sex is darker than the other...is this true with the chocs?

I'm not sure though, those are just my guesses. I have buff dundottes, which are similar to buffs. The dundottes don't have very dark stripes on their heads, if any. The buffs have darker stripes than the dundottes do.

#2 almost looks like a pastel by the pics on the link I posted. And the chocolate pieds are not pied, they are just chocolate.

I agree, they are very hard to tell, even with the pics on that site! Hope I got some right at least

The lavenders are probably right, and the pearls are right. Other than that I'm not sure, sorry!

I don't think it is a sexing trait, on that site I linked it says they can either be dark or light.

so if #3 isn't pied, just chocolate...then what is #5, brown? I am still kinda confused... BTW: these are keets I got out of the eggs I got from 92caddy.

I'm thinking the keets in the first pic might be sky blues, but I believe they are supposed to have white on them (like the chocolates)? My lavenders seemed to have stripes all down their bodies, not just their heads. But they could always be light lavenders.

Yeah, this is out of like 80+ eggs, that had been sittin a while... out of those eggs I think I had about 30+ hatch... all in the colors in the pics posted above.
