I was told by the breeder that I got these two silkies from that they were both blue silkies. One is 5 months old (first three photos) & one is 6 weeks old (last two photos).
I am very new to owning chickens and really don't know much about silkie coloring. But...aren't these white and not blue? When I google blue silkies I see the gray-ish color, not white like these two are.
Just wondering if I was told false info on these guys or if there are "blue" silkies that look white like this? May seem like a dumb question, but I don't know! lol

Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

How can a "breeder" mistake white for blue?! :smack

You are correct. Blue in chickens is typically a darker grey color. The first one looks non bearded. The second one looks bearded. I prefer bearded, but both are accepted by the standard.
Darn it! Lol that’s what I thought! I was super confused when we first picked the big one up in April. The little one was to replace a silkie chick that we had that died, and the breeder set aside this little white one and I tried to pick up the gray looking one but she told me that wasn’t the blue one. ‍♀️ very strange!
