What color are your yolks? I'm disappointed with mine

i've noticed whenever i give my girls hay chafe (leftover from hay deliveries for the horses) that their yolks get very orangy golden.

plus they go bonkers for it and it's fun to watch them go bonkers.

My newest hen lays eggs with pale lemon yellow yolks. She has been laying for a week. She eats the same as the others, but theirs are a rather startling bright orange.
Perhaps it is a genetic trait?? She is a Goldline.

Mine are usually free-ranging but are on lock-down due to predator season. They are fed primarily scratch and tons of grass. I have 6 hens in lock-up and put 2-4 huge handfuls of whatever I catch in my fist as I pull up clump after clump of grass. That includes "grass", clover and dandelion greens primarily with the occasional other green "thing". I just keep pulling until I can't get anymore in my fists, then drop it in clumps around the pen. I do the same at night and they gobble up all I can feed them. My hens have deep orange gold yolks.
