what color eggs to light brahma hens lay?

My brahma hens eggs run anywhere from a dark brown, to a light brown, to a pink; depending on where they are in the cycle. I've also had completely round eggs from them, as well as what we call pullet bullets - long, slender eggs.

I got an egg this morning that is bigger than a Jumbo size egg. It's brown speckled. I don't know who laid it. I thought maybe My Light Brahma, but it would be a first for her. I have other hens but I didn't think their eggs were that big and most of them have been laying for awhile. Any ideas? Thanks

FYI you can build a small candelling box to check the eggs before you set them and after 7 days in the incubator.

cut 4 pieces of plywood about 6 inch square one will need a whole smaller than a small egg shape to lay the egg on it i used a piece of felt to go around the hole so not to crack it accidantly.

Then one of the side will need a hole to pass the wire in it where the light bulb will go. You can buy those light fixture that you can attach to your electrical wire and has 2 wire coming out of the socket sorry I am french so not sure the name of this item.

DO NOT LEAVE THE EGG ON IT FOR TOO LONG AS YOU MAY DAMAGE THE EMBRYO.

OK put the egg on it if it is clear you are goo to go for hatching process , if not throw it away.
at 7 days do the same process except if its clear throw it away, as you should see like the shape of an eye , remember to always put the point down so there will be a good size air pocket for the chick to breath when it starts cracking the egg.

you can do it again at 14 days the egg should be full black except for the air pocket, baby on the way lol

Stop turning the egg at 18 days and reduce the humidity so the shell will break easier.


P/S: DO NOT WASH THE EGGS THAT YOU WANT TO HATCH.

Take them out of the fridge for 24 hours so they gt to room tempareture before starting the process
