What color is he? Cockerel from APA Ameraucana parents

After I had seen the pics of him as an adult I knew he were a roo also and had thought that you were referring him to a cockeral as a chick!

I am going to go with a silver gened white bird, as he looks slightly to have a greyish tinge. Granted, this is usually something that we refer to in the silkie world, as I have gotten silver gened white silkies out of my pure black parent birds. He as a chick looks identical in fluff as my silver gened white silkie chicks look. He would/could be shown as a white.

Honestly I do not think he's a recessive white sport. . . Those will be born as a white chick. I myself have had a recessive white out of Blue Wheaten / Wheaten breeding, and my boy started out white.

Also, my recessive white had a slight golden brown tinge. . . Yours has a gray tinge. I'd say he may just be a very pale splash. He looks like a splash as a chick.

I'm not really sure, I just don't think there is white involved. If anything I'd say honestly one of the chicks in the photos with him looks blue, not black.

White Giant and White Javas are gray like that as chicks. Look at the last pic on this page of the White Java chicks which looks just like the OPs Ameraucana chicks and has the same light markings on the head and everything, and ironically enough it even says that they can come from two black parents too. http://highgroundfarm.blogspot.com/

He is Stunning!

Thank you all.

Will he be recessive to all colors (except white of course) ? If I cross him with a blue - the chicks will be blue with a reces. white gene - correct?

He does have a "gray" tinge. When I first got him - here is a laugh - I actually thought he might be a lav. As he matured - he did not look like any lavs (of any breed) that I had seen pictured - so I then thought he might be a super light lav. (silly me

I also thought he might leak color, but have not seen one drip.

I know which one you speak of. All three of the black chicks did mature to be black with lovely beetle green sheen - I sold the blacks (I had picked a trio) to the person who ordered the chicks.

How could you get a splash chick from two black parents though?

I hatched a splash chick that had one partridge (EE) parent. How the heck did THAT happen?

He also looked lavender at hatch.
Not sure how you ended up with this guy, but he is lovely!
