I just purchased these two Bantam Cochin chicks. What colors are they considered? I'm new to Cochins, and not familiar with the color varieties. These two are about 4 weeks old, I believe.

The one on the left appears to be gold partridge with Mahogany and a dilution gene. I've never seen coloration like the one on the right but it is very fascinating. Could you get a profile view of him? He might be a cross of red and black but I can't tell from this angle.

Yes! I'll try to get some better pictures of him.

I never saw the other little pullet. She seems to be furness. (Melanized wheaten.)

Furness males have black breasts, not orange like the cockerel's. He looks like red quail in color (quail with the Mahogany gene to make it more orange.)
Here is a gold quail (their first wing feathers are a lot darker)

Perhaps he also has the Columbian gene added to make him a funky wheaten-based quail. Or a partridge based quail. Keep me posted on how he turns out.
How did they look as chicks?

So, are you still thinking the pullet is a gold partridge with mohagany?

Okay, interesting. Do you think I should breed him? Or should I just keep him as a pet? I have no idea what they looked like as chicks. I just bought them today as a 4-week-old pair. I can ask the breeder to see if she has any pics.

The one in the first picture looks like a gold partridge with a dilution and mahogany. Are you telling me the pullet in the first picture and the other pictures are the same one?

To my knowledge, yes. Unless the breeder accidentally grabbed the wrong one. I was supposed to pick up the one in the first picture.
