What Color Is This Chick? Genetic Questions Please help?

Can someone tell me what color this chick is?

At first I thought it was a BS but the color is coming in a differsnt color

A cameo pied? I don't yet have cameos so this a real guess

It looks a lot like my cameo bs chick, but with a little white on the wings it is probably pied as well. IF it is cameo bs, you will notice the neck feathers that grow in will be a little more grey than the body

I do not have any cameos except my blind one and he is too young to breed, so where did it come from LOL

no I wish but I wouldn't let him cause he would only pass on the blind gene

besides he only walks in circles. I take him out and place him in a pen by himself and he sits in the sun. If he is out with the other birds they seem to peck at him and he don't know which way to go. He spends most of his time inside the shed with the babies until the babies start picking on him then they go outside LOL.

Don't I need 2 cameos to get a cameo? I have a IB dark pied (he has 2 white flight feathers) plit to peach who has been trying to score with the ladies but with peach too don't I need to have 2 to get that color as well?

You need only one copy of the peach ( if peach is a separate mutant) gene for a female phenotype. Besides, this chick inherited one white gene from one parent and pied from another . If your male has white flight feather , he is split to white. Dark pied peafowl contain two copies of the pied gene- this male parent does not have even one, if he did, he would have been a pied The pied gene for this chick must have been inherited from the female parent. That is my opinion.The chick may be a peach pied hen..

You don't need 2 cameo (or peach) birds to get offspring that are cameo (or peach). A split to cameo or split to peach male can produce female offspring of their respective colours. Chances are, if you have a split to peach, and no split to cameos , then the bird would be a peach hen. Does your IB split to peach male have a white throat patch? Do any of the hens with this male have any white flights visible? This info could be used to determine parentage.

I couldn't seperate the birds this year except the charcoals. The October storm took almost all me pens down. We got the main pen and the charcoal one finished but it took us longer to get the other done. My hens with white are as follows: 2 white hens and 2 silver pied. My IB peacock split to peach was born in 2010. Granted I did see him try to breed but the hen would not let him, but that doesn't mean that he didn't on another day but I thought he was to young?
