What color is this little silkie chick turning? - UPDATED PIX

There is definitely blue coming through in the wing feathers, so it is carrying blue. There appears to be more smuttiness present in the down, and already developing in the wings, than in a typical buff. I still believe it is the product of a blue or splash x buff.

I think that is the case. I have a line of show quality buffs just like that. The chicks hatch looking like they are blue or splash but after the first molt the feathers grow in buff. Every so often though I get really nice ginger reds out of that line.

Thanks guys! So probably buff or blue. Looks like I will have to wait and see! The lady has some REALLY nice silkies and all of them were seperated by color, but the eggs were not marked, so I don't know which ones they were from

I LOVE their colors right now, they are so cute!

If they were separated by color, then it is definitely buff. Here is one of my buff cockerel chicks. A cockerel because his skull is only semi-vaulted. Lots of sootiness in the down and grey leakage in the primaries. Those will molt and grow in buff.

I think it's going to grow out like my buff. See the gray feathers sticking out on the tail poof? Also, the normal wing feathers have some gray on them also. The silkie feathers are all buff.

Darn, they are buff! So it looks like I have 4 little buff silkies. The ones with the gray right now are sooooo cute! Love 'em! I have 11 more silkie eggs in the incubator, I am hoping to get some splash with those! Thanks for all the input!
