What color is this peachick? Pics

We just hatched out a peachick for the first time this past week

The eggs were shipped so I'm excited that we even got one out of them. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what color he/she is?

I know absolutely nothing about Peafowl Genetics but I'm going to say it's a Dark Pied.

This one looks pied... If I had to hazard, it looks loud pied... but I am fuzzy on the difference between pied and loud pied. I know genetically loud pied is half and half white and pied. Phenotypically I think it shows as pied with lots of white (but isn't silver pied). I think you'd have to know the genetics of your bird to figure the difference, so until then- I'm gonna just say pied to be safe

This is just a Pied could also be a Pied White Eyed, Loud Pied is just a name someone gave them years ago but if you get right down to it a Pied is a Pied until you get to the Silver Pieds.

And yes, the chick is going to be beautiful as an adult. Lots of white on him!

Yes what people call loud pied are pied birds that have alot of white, and with that in mind yes that chick would be loud.


Looking at that chick note how much white is on the back, if that is a male. He will have mostly a white train.

Beautiful! But if it's an only chick it may be loud in more ways than just color

Great pattern on that peachick, he or she will be beautiful as an adult, of course all peafowl are pretty beautiful!
