What color of calls do you think?

I agree, those are NOT calls...I would email these people and send them pics as proof that you did not get what you paid for....Let us know what they say!

That's what my husband has been saying from the time they started growing that they were Mallards! My husband had emailed him and he asked for a picture. I don't think he ever sent it. I will get him to follow up. Maybe they are half mallard and half call duck?

Seriously. That's what I was going to say. Glad now that I opted to wait to see if I can hatch my own eggs before I went out on a limb and bought someone else's!

Wow, what a mix-up!! But if they have a high number of sales and no negative feedback, it was probably an honest mistake. Definitely contact them! Hopefully they'll make it up to you somehow--that's quite a whopper of a mistake!!

Good luck--

I don't know about that...to know for sure I guess you'd have to see how big they finish out. I don't know a lot about Mallards but I'm just not seeing any call duck here. Any experts feel like weighing in on this?

True. And regardless, it's reasonable to still be very irritated. Now at least two people have mallards that they're attached to when what they wanted was call ducks, and that puts those folks in a hard position, deciding whether to keep the "mistake" babies or not. Even getting your money back won't fix that problem.

Still, you won't know whether they'll try to help you unless you check with them. I still think it might have been a mistake, because they could have labelled a large batch of eggs wrong, and then the mistake would easily have been perpetuated when they divided the batch for sale. It's likely there are more than two victims, too.

If they are good sellers, they will quickly offer your money back with an apology and an offer of something extra to make up for your time, the hassle, and the emotional aspect of it too. If they don't do that, then you'll certainly want to take it to the next level, because you obviously did not receive what you paid for!

Actually, if they're *really* good sellers, they'll identify which batch was mislabelled and pro-actively contact everyone who received eggs from that batch and offer to make up for the mistake.

In any event, I hope it works out for you. I'm sorry you're having to go through it.

But wouldn't call eggs look so different from mallard eggs that they practically label themselves? I don't know, I don't keep either breed, I just thought call eggs were really small. It's seems possible that the mallard male could have fertilized the female call. Then the eggs would look like calls but the mallard traits got expressed. Of course that begs the question how did that happen without them knowing. Since this is early in the season could they have not allowed enough time for them to be separated?
Anyway let us know how the seller responds.
