What color of calls do you think?

We have emailed the seller with a picture. we will see what happens. The name is Applewood hatchery, not appleyard, sorry. They are in East Texas. I guess I will try and sell these ducks. I don't want to give them away because i don't want them to wind up as someone's dinner. My husband really wants calls and we just don't have the facilities for both. Here's a picture of our first real call duck Coco.

I don't raise Mallards, but my regular duck eggs from WH, KC, and runners are definitely larger and whiter than my calls. My white and magpie calls give a slightly greenish tinted egg that is more the shape of a chicken egg than the rounded duck eggs from my standard sized ducks. I don't think I could mix up the eggs from the different pens.

I just got a response from Applewood Hatchery. One of their Mallard boys had gotten in their Call pond and they thought they had waited long enough before sending out eggs. They are willing to remedy the problem with me and anyone else that had the same problem.

That's good enough for me.

When i got my mallards the eggs were slightly green.

If that is true (sound dubious to me, but I am cynical, LOL), then you should get 25% Snowy color when you breed them together. That doesn't explain the completely Mallard bills or body shape, since it is far beyond even pet quality Calls. I do hope they make good for you guys though. At least they admitted their mistake. That does say a lot, so I guess I shouldn't doubt them, LOL.

On the issue of Call eggs, my few female Calls do lay eggs that look identical to Mallard eggs.

My call eggs were light green. I got them from boys_3 seller on ebay. She sent extras. I'm still hatching right now, but the first 6 are out (11 more in lockdown still 1 out in the bator)

I highly recommend boys_3 from ebay.
I'm sorry that happened to you, I've also been sent eggs I thought were something else (as extras) and have grown attached to the little buggers.
