I have a broody hen who is determined to sit. So I've decided to let her hatch out some chicks
I am a, buy them alive, kind of person and have no experience with genetics, hatching etc. What I'm wondering is, my only rooster is a BLRW has been "doing his job" quite regularly with most of the girls. I have various white egg layers, GLWs, EEs, OEs, Ameraucanas, Marans, and a Wellsummer. What I'm wondering is, what kind of egg colors will these mix of chicks lay? Will the OE's have a more muted olive color? Will the Ameraucana chicks (they'll be EE then right?) lay a green shade? I don't plan on keeping any of them (at least that's what I'm telling the Mister lol), so I want to know what I can tell people when I rehome them. Attached are a couple pictures of what the girls are laying...I know not to wash them, these are from last week and I have collected yesterdays and todays to put under her tonight after dark when I move her to her own coop. I plan on candeling at day 7 and 14. Any other advice would be much appreciated!!! If all goes well, I hope to put some CCL eggs underneath her later on.
