If your black roo came from BBS breeding, you're actually in the likely hood to get black birds with gold and/or silver leaking through, and your offspring will look a lot like the gold leaked black Araucanas you see in auctions and the Araucana thread lately. . .
But still, yes, you're going to have rusty/leaky black birds.
Well not that I was planning on anything, but I bought chicks and if I did want to sell eggs later I would prefer something better than those that this mating would produce.I need to figure out what colors I really have.
I also need to post a pic of a hen I hatched.her father is a true rumpless splash araucana and her mother was a ee,but had the muff.she has turned out rumpless w/ a muff.she is a partridge color.I really just wanted another blue egg laying hen,but she is really unique .
here is my araucana x ee hen.I was hoping if I mated some of the pure chicks I have I might get standard colors.I would not desire the leakage problem.
She looks like a silver duckwing to me. (black/white neck, salmon-red breast, grey body w/pencilling)
There are a LOT of splash, blue, and black Araucanas out there with duckwing hidden in them anyway, so it may be why she turned out to look so colorful.
