What color would this be considered and does anyone understand the possible genetics behind this?

Dad was a blue copper Maran x faverolle and mom is purebred welsummer. I would have thought this chick came from one of my speckled breeds, but I only have one dark egg layer left which is my welsummer and I watched it hatch out of her dark brown speckled egg. Can anyone tell me what is going on here genetic wise? Is this a fluke or does this make sense? I was expecting a blue or black birchen type chick to hatch not this little one.

Chick is gonna feather out Duckwing. The speckles are part of the juvenile plumage, & molts out.

Father would be Birchen/Wheaten split, so he's not pure Birchen, & may throw one like this.
The welsummer hen is Red Duckwing which is an intermediate gene, meaning it can be both dominant, or recessive.
