I have been wondering what type of coulor you would call these, theey are 8 months old now, and I guess not a purebread, unless there Americana I got 2 from Murry Mcmurry and they both have white and redish feathers and were sold as Auraucana, which arent supposed to have tail feathers, but the hen has produced the Green eggs and they really are cold hardy.
, this one is behind the white hen, I think they are really nice looking even if they dont match some mans idea of a breed they still are chickens, and I like the green eggs. Plus since they are cold hardy I plan to get more next time. I love the long tail feathers on the roosters and they seem to be gentle poultry.
Technically, "Storeyʻs Illustrated Guide to Poultry" would call it "spangled". Iʻd just call it attractive. I had a white EE hen named Marilyn Monroe that looks just like yours. Unfortunately, a mongoose found her too attractive and too easy to spot in the moonlight. Oh well, thereʻs always the next hatch. Love them green eggs!
Those are definitely easter eggers, not ameraucanas or araucanas. Hatcheries sell them that way, and we are all fooled into it the first time. But easter eggers are wonderful - I have two from McMurray, who both lay beautiful green eggs. They are wonderful girls.
I have no idea what color I'd call that roo, but he's gorgeous!
