What color would you paint it?

Im planning on building a new, predator proof run, as the old one is about 10 years old, the chicken wire is rusted, its too small, and obviously is not safe(something got one of my chickens already this year).
So this is what I have in mind, there will be wood at the bottom to prevent paws from reaching in, chicken wire at the top, and I *think* the cover will be half tin for shelter from rain and snow, and the other half will just be wire to keep hawks out but let sun in.

The wood im getting is just an ugly dark brown. I want to paint it. Any idea for what color?? Our house is white, and the henhouse needs to be repainted also, so I was thinking probably the trim would be painted to match it. Another option that I kinda like but would take some work, would be to stencil chickens onto it.The inside door of the henhouse has our original 4 chickens steciled onto it. We have 13 chickens, so that may take a while. There are going to be decorative pebbles around and the run, it will be covering the hardware cloth "skirt" and I want to put some potted veggies for them around there.

I vote make it match the house and the stencils are a great idea.

With the house white, you have tons of options. What it your fav color? Use it as the trim against white. Or the standard green w/white, red w/white, blues...

Well it depends what 'style' you'd like to end up with around your yard. If you want to stay rustic and earthy then keep to the beige/brown/green
If you'd like to perhaps go nautical, then blues and whites...you can add a pond and ducks later
Red and white are traditional farm colours, and your house is already white...

We are going with Red...as long as the paint is dry , really dry, shouldn't be a problem with the chickies right?

Ummm... this may just be at my house, but it seems when I paint something red it draws every fly for miles.
Could just be coincidence, but I painted an old metal glider apple red and the flies won't leave it alone. They buzz around and land all over the arms. Same deal on the coop. I painted it red with white trim and it is crazy with flies. They seem to land on the red walls and leave the white roof alone. You'f think it'd be different as the roof has smushed berries from the tree above, but nope. The flies congregate on the walls. It's annoying.

I'm going to paint coop number two white with red trim to see if it's coincidence or something about the red. Dunno.

I think yellow with white trim would be cheery, and since it is a light color, not way too different from the house.

Then again....a nice dark color would hide the dirt!

Oh..do you worry more about heat, or cold? If you worry more about heat, pick a light color. If you worry more about the cold, pick a dark color. A forest green or cobalt blue would be good.

I say walk into you local paint store or home improvement place, put on a blind fold and have someone spin you around like you are playing pin the tail on the donkey and whatever paint chip you pick up that is what you paint it. Whatta ya think?
