I was really confused because I don’t have any white silkies, but yet I got a white from them!

He could have come from paints.

Oh, I miss read.
Since the chick was blue at hatch, he had blue parents, the chick most likely had recessive white genes from both blue parents that didn't show

We didn’t have any paints either at the time. He came from a pen that just had a mix of blacks and buffs in it, a long with one buff blue partridge.

Silver based white can hatch a darker grey shade just as gold based white down can be yellow/orange. You don't need any white birds to produce recessive white chicks, just two birds that are split for it

Black, & Blue partridge could be the recessive white gene holders.
