What is the color called of this little keet -- he was born today. These are my Australorp's 10 keets she hatched out for me.

Here are some more photos of the keets hatched today.

The keet in the top and bottom pics is a Pied Pearl Grey. The little Lavender in the middle pic at the bottom right of the pic looks like he has a lot of white on the sides of his face, so he may be a Pied Lavender (can't tell for sure, but if he has white on the wings like the Pied Pearl Grey does then he is definitely a Pied Lavender. Cute babies!!!

Peeps, what is the difference between a Pied Pearl and a Royal Purple keet? Mine look almost identical to the ones above you say are pied pearls. Is it in the stripes on their heads?

Or do I have six Pied Pearls from my two Royal Purple parents? I know that's possible............and I don't care..........I just have keets, and that's what counts to me!

On a partially pearled keet (like a Royal Purple) the head stripes are thin, squiggly/broken, and the wings will be white all the way to the shoulders.

On a fully pearled keet (even Pied) the center head stripe will be wide, with a couple sets of thinner (straight) outline stripes beside them, and usually the white wings do not go completely up to the shoulders.

From what I see in your pics Leigh you do have Royal Purples, but get another pic of them in a couple days and I'll confirm it for sure.

Thanks Peeps -- I will get more pics too------ but with mine the parents are Pearl fathers and Lavender or Lavender Pied mamas.
