I have been keeping Brahma hens for just over a year and currently have

- A gold partridge brahma
- A blue partridge brahma
- A lemon Pyle brahma
- A splash brahma
- A silver partridge brahma
- A Colombian buff brahma

I am interesting in getting a cockerel and have been offered a Blue partridge brahma cockerel. What colours would I expect if he was to breed with those hens?
Thanks

You'll probaly get a color hybrid. Ie. The blue partridge's wings with the one of the other's say tail. I don't have much experience with brahmas, but this is what I do know. :)

Blue partridge Brahma...

X A gold partridge brahma 50 percent blue partridge and 50 percent partridge chicks
X A blue partridge brahma 50 percent blue partridge, 25 percent partridge, 25 percent splash partridge (aka “lemon Pyle”)
XA lemon Pyle brahma 50 percent blue partridge, 50 percent splash partridge
X A splash brahma 50 percent leaky blue and 50 percent leaky splash
X A silver partridge brahma sexlinks: 25 percent blue golden partridge cockerels, 25 percent golden partridge cockerels, 25 percent blue partridge pullets, 25 percent partridge pullets
X A Colombian buff brahma 25 percent blue gold columbian (with extra markings) and 25 percent gold columbian (with extra markings)
The percentages are obviously only what is likely and usually never what happens.

so cool! thanks for writing this out! I'm just starting to learn, and color genetics is endlessly fascinating!

I had no idea there were this many different brahmas. I have a light brahma that I adore, but will have to look up these other colors now!

So we have picked up the Brahma today and I think it may actually be a red Pyle cockerel any idea about colourings when we breed him to our hens? Thanks

Blue when bred with black, splash and blue when bred with blue, splash when bred with splash. Other than on the blue locus, you’ll get the same outcomes.
