Hi,
I've just hatched a call duck that was meant to be pure white, but that is definitely not the case...does anyone know what colour/pattern this baby will be?
I'm totally new to all this so haven't a clue lol.

Absolutely adorable!!

Looks to be Snowy based, not pure for Snowy though due to the dark mark on the bill going so far from the tip... Snowy hatch out yellow with variations of 'smoked' down on heads and tails to entire body being smoked, and a black bean on their bill tip...

Were they listed as Snowys or Whites? Recently I have seen a lot of references to 'Snowy whites', but Snowy and White are 2 completely different color variations...

Gorgeous little duckling!! :love

Do you have feed with higher than regular chick starter Niacin or brewers yeast to add to the feed? Calls especially need the extra Niacin since being so small and short legged can cause issues on their own...

Thank you for the information...they were listed as pure white and then this little guy happened :)
I need to google snowy's now to get an idea of how he will turn out, we love him to bits regardless.
And yes he's getting extra niacin in his water....100mg per gallon, is that right?

Brewers yeast or Nutritional yeast is easier, IMO... I do 1Tblspn per cup of feed mixed in... needs to be given til 10-12 weeks of age...

100mg *should be* ok, it's 100-150mg per gal, usually aim for 125mg...

I have Snowy Calls... here's one of my special girls...

Males look similar to mallard coloring, but with frosted edged feathers and rust coloring down the sides...
