What determines males or females in hatching eggs?

If the rooster lays the egg, it will hatch out a hen.

maybe after one of your hens decides to switch sides.......never mind.....

Well it would be hard to eliminate the girls who only produces sons! That is, if you got more than one pullet and unmarked eggs for each hen.

I believe it would be impossible. Eliminating a certain gene only works when the animal can go without it. A hen is always going to have 1 male and 1 female gene. If they have both male genes then you have a rooster and if they have both female genes you have a problem. Usually in mammals (including humans) the animal will not survive with 2 male genes. In birds it would be the opposite. You could not produce a hen that would produce only hens. It's genetically impossible.

There are occasions where an animal goes against the odds and produces more of one type than the other despite a supposed 50/50 chance. My mare had 3 sorrels when she should have had a 75% chance for a bay/black and 25% for sorrel. Usually this doesn't pass on well and can't be predicted. It may just be coincidence or due to a combination of minor genes we can't determine or control. Either way it's usually futile to try to breed for it.

Sounds right to me! Some eggs will be more pointed than others. Whats up Blue? You gonna stop by this week?

Well guess all those eggs round on both ends, all will hatch out
Bi-Pullets.

The ones with a round end and a point end , all will hatch out MorF,or both pullet and rooster.
