when you don't have anything to compair them to I can see how you'd confuse them with just a normal brown but there are a few things to note to know that what you have is special! ( red goldens) the breast feathers on a red golden are marroon and not black. The brown coturnixs beaks are black or grey not tinted red (like your hens)!

Is that white on the chest of your first pair hen? If so, if you selectively breed her with A & M you MAY get lucky and produce hte first brown tuxedo! I highly doubt it would be simple BUT if I had a hen like that you betcha I'd be fiddling with the genes

I have the last picture up of the jumbos but they seem to be the same size as the regular brown coturnix, how much bigger are they suppose to be
