What did I hatch?

Yes, a barnyard mix can be anything you have in your barn that mated with the hen. A Cockerel is a rooster. What Breeds do you have in your flock? Any with a cushion comb? It kind of looks like he is going to have a cushion or strawberry comb...his feather pattern looks like my turkey chicks...have any turkeys-lol. He is very striking!
It was my first time hatching eggs, I bought the eggs locally, so just starting my flock with only pullets, no idea on the turkey thing that would be funny but I think I'll be sad if it's a rooster! Thank you kindly!

This is so much fun! When I got the eggs they said they had, "Bardrock, silver lace, windacots and Rhode island reds. "

Oh they weren't your eggs? I have Bardrock, silverlaced Wyndottes & Rhode Island Reds, and none of them started out like him but if he is a he...I have all hens? Do they all look like this one? Or, is this one unique?

I could, but my neighbors are back to back I'm afraid it would be annoying to them?
I love good neighbors! :wee

Thank you for trying to be one. :highfive:

You could discuss it with them and let them know that you will make arrangements as needed if he becomes a bother to them. My neighbors are fairly close and while some were worried, when I check with them they have no complaints.

Expect about half of what you hatched to be cockerels... unless you somehow get lucky. It does happen. The teacher that hatched some of my Silkie eggs got only 1 boy and 6 gals!

Oh how many times do our favorite chicks turn out to be of the male persuasion! :hmm
