What did i just see?

I just let my pullets back on the run with my cockerel, who is 16 weeks old, and loves trying to breed. His favorite hen is Hazel, a 16 week old buff Orphington, who loves him also, and then followed by 14 week OE Indria, who wants him dead. He grabbed Indy's neck feathers, and was trying to jump on her, and Hazel runs over and starts pecking him until he got off. They did this a 2nd time, and when Indria got away, Hazel snuck up behind her and attacked her, trying to pull feathers, Indria ran off and hid, and everything went back to normal. Why did Hazel intervene and pick on Indria? Is she jealous?

Sounds like they’re still trying to establish the pecking order amongst themselves.

I be live Hazel is bottom of pecking order, Indria has been at the top pretty much sinse she was big enough to stand up for herself. Hazel hasn't ever really been into pecking order. Could be it though I guess.

Everyone is doing fine now. Indria went to the roof.

How funny, our older boy in with our hens will break up the hen fights.
And also chase my younger boy when he sees a hen he likes.

But the ezzie the older boy, has no tail because of them, and he had no beard for quite awhile.
