What did my chick die from?

A had a chick hatch just fine in the incubator 4 days ago. Noticed that it would only drink if I held it in my hand he would put his head towards the water and drink but every time it drank it would gasp and swallow for a few seconds. He walked really wobbly as if it was drunk and then would just stop and start chirping really loud until I put him back under the heatplate. I put him at the food tray but he didn’t seem to peck at his food. Yesterday he did peck a little bit but I’m not sure he got any of it down. This morning I noticed he was drinking by himself but I noticed an hour later he was lying on his back an couldn’t get up. He started to get lethargic and didn’t want to drink anymore so I tried giving water with electrolytes with some drops on a q tip. He was still vocal but didn’t stand anymore and it progressively got worse and started to gasp for air and died in my hands. I don’t know what I did wrong I’m heartbroken.

You didn't do anything wrong. Some chicks just aren't born healthy enough to survive. You did your best, don't blame yourself.
