I got some eggs for my broody from someone who has numerous breeds, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of chicken this egg came from. Thanks!

I'm not sure if she has welsummers I'm not sure she even knows, she has about 150 chickens of various breeds. I know she has black sex link and cochins. I was just curious cause It's due to hatch tonight or tomorrow the other one in nest just pipped. Thanks for your replies. I'll have to post a pic when it hatches.

One of my bantam cochins lays eggs that color. I don't think it has to be breed specific. Just some chickens have that like some people have freckles. :) Hopefully the chicken you get from that will be a hen, and have the same genetics to lay pretty speckled eggs for you.

Right now I just hope it hatches ok, its my broodys last chance to hatch herself. I think she crushed the one that pipped last night. Not sure what to do with it. My incubator has my turner in it til tomorrow.

One of my girls lays eggs like that once in a while......just not sure which girl!..lol
I have Barred Rocks and Black Sex Link in that coop.
that is sooo interesting. My BPRs also laid spotted eggs sometimes. Mostly the spots on the fat end of the egg----but, maybe your BPR is the source of the spotted eggs too! My BPRs are now back to solid light brown.

For the OP--- when it hatches....your mystery may be solved!

Neither hatched the one in question seemed to be shrinked wrapped, and i think my first time broody squished the other. So I'm waiting for some chicks to come in to feed store on Mon. To try giving her some chicks.
