What did you crave when you were pregnant?

I have a couple of good ones! With my first, I couldn't stand the smell of cooking meat. My hubby would have to come home and finish cooking the meal after he got home from work.

With my second, I craved anything with vinegar in it>>sauerkraut (which I like anyway), salad oils (ewwww) AND I wanted to smell cat food! I told my doctor and he asked "Do you want to EAT it?" "No, just smell it"

#1 was too sick to eat anything, lost 15# from throwing up so much

#2 also too sick, lost 17#

#3 - Orange juice (and I HATE orange juice), Belgian waffles, salad, Chick-fil-A's Oreo milkshakes

#4 (current pregnancy) steamed crab legs, orange Gatorade and onion rings

Good ones, too. Thin sliced, hand breaded and seasoned to perfection - no fast food onion rings for me!

Oh my heavens, I need some. I'm going to have to stop by the local diner later.

With my first pregnancy I craved fruit. HAD to have fruit. I ate it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Primarily it was berries that I had to have, and I would sit and eat pint after pint of berries, much to my family's amazement, lol. I also craved white rice with that pregnancy and I could put down two pounds of rice in one sitting with no problems. I also craved Apricot nectar. I drank that by the boatload, couldn't get enough, but it HAD to be apricot, no other nectars! I think that year I single handedly supported the Jumex company! Lol!

With the second pregnancy, first I craved Campbell's chicken noodle soup. I ate it morning, noon, and night. Til I hit the 4 month mark. Then it made me sick to even smell it! But then my craving turned to Spaghettios. I ate them for nearly every meal until the baby arrived. We were so broke at the time but I would search the streets for change, and dig in the couch cushions just to find the money to go buy some spghettios for me, lol. Good thing they were only $.50 a can at the time!

As for what I couldnt' handle, with my 1st pregnancy, pop made me sick. I wanted it, but it made me sick as a dog, so until I delivered, it was tea, juice, milk and water. No pop. With my second pregnancy, I couldn't eat mashed potatoes. They made me gag from any lumps. Actually didn't start eating them again til about 4 years later! Also, bologna made me sick. 10 1/2 yrs later and I STILL can't eat bologna! I'll never touch it again. Also, my kids' father is Puerto Rican and he cooks a lot of ethnic foods. One in particular is called Pastalios (sp?) and they require being deep fried. I would get so mterribly sick from the smell, but he wouldn't stop making them (yeah, he was inconsiderate on MANY levels, that's one of the reasons we aren't together anymore!), so I would have to leave the house completely, and not return until hours after he finished making them because they would have me throwing up.

By the way, as different as both my pregnancies were, both were girls. Even the morning sickness was different. With my older DD I would wake up ok, then the nausea would hit about 20 minutes after I woke up, I'd throw up once, and be fine the rest of the day. With my second DD I had this terrible sharp pain constantly in my stomach, the same sort of pain I get after drinking too much alcohol. The pain was constantly there the first 4 months. Though I only threw up once, and lucky for me it was in the shower after only having had water that day! I suppose if I ever got pregnant again, I'd probably have another completely different pregnancy. But also, knowing my luck I'd have another moose. My girls were 8lbs 15oz and 9lbs 2oz respectively. Yeah, MOOSE!
